1. What's it all about?
We are a team of rock music collectors with over 20 years experience. And this site is a place
where we meet other collectors from all over the world. Spending a lot of time searching
deleted (BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!) compact discs, we always look for an opportunity to find
something for our fellow collectors.
2. So I can send you my want list?
Yes - if you look for something made in Japan. Japanese releases have always been highly sought
after collectibles, and you can use our experience to track down something you have always wanted
to have. We'll be happy to find those items you dream of! You can use Contact Us form for this purpose.
Please mention the artist, album title, acceptable condition and target price. Please specify if obi is
important.
3. What is obi and why it is important?
It is a paper strip running down the side of CDs (and LPs) that are pressed in Japan. It usually contains
a brief information about the item. The word "obi" goes for a traditional kimono belt. Most people
consider obi as a part of the package and throw it out. That's why serious collectors prefer CDs with
obi strips intact - they are quite rare. But most people believe that it's the music that matters.
4. What makes Japanese pressings so special?
Very high quality. Most Japanese CDs sound much better than American or European releases.
Many Japanese originals sound even better than recent
remasters, believe it or not.
Printing quality is also superior. Add obi strips that make Japanese stuff so unique. Lyrics come with most CDs.
Lots of limited editions that come with extras - expanded photo booklets, stickers, post cards etc.
5. I know someone collecting mostly Japanese CDs. Can you tell me, why?
Same reasons. Limited quantity Japanese press. Superior quality in mastering and the packaging. Another
major factor is that Japanese CDs quickly go out of print and become extremely hard to find. And Japanese
releases always cost a lot so collecting it may be considered as a wise investment, too!
6. Do you trade?
Basically, we don't. We have literally thousands CDs in our collections. But if you offer really quality stuff, we
are always open. Needless to say that we prefer Japanese CDs.
7. Do you sell original CDs or copies?
We sell only original, factory pressed CDs. No duplicated copies are offered. We do not sell CDs with drill
holes, cut-outs or simply in poor condition. Please do not ask us to burn CD-R copies
or make MP3's for you.
It kills music and rips off musicians.
8. Do you sell new or used CDs? Do you have any grading for used items?
We offer both new and used CDs. You will understand it from an item's description. We use standard
grading system. Please refer to our "Terms and Conditions" section for details.
9. How to use "search" tool in a most
effective way? How can I see your whole inventory?
You can search by artist, album title, label, year - whatever. For
example, if you need to get a list of indies
we offer, simply put the word "indie" (without commas) into the search
field. To see the whole inventory,
please
browse by sections -
just click on Main catalogue button and then choose a category
you want.
10. Do you have multiple copies of your products? Can I order more than one copy?
In print CDs are available in multiple quantities. Out of print CDs are sold on a first come first served basis
since the stocks are limited. If you need more than one copy of one title, please send us an inquiry.
11. Some items are called
"pre-release promo". What does it mean?
Pre-release promo is usually a CD album pressed in few hundred copies in 1-3
months before main
production, for promotion. Japanese promos come with full track listings,
original running time/running order,
full cover art (front and back inserts, inlays etc), obi strip - exactly as a
regular CD does. The only difference
is a special sticker on the back insert or on obi strip and writing
"sample" around disc center. Pre-release
promos are always top-notch collectibles, because they are even more original
than originals. Sometime
main production doesn't begin due to some serious circumstances while small
batch of promos is already out!
12. How can I pay for your products?
Most payments are being made by PayPal. Please read "Terms and Conditions" for further details.
13. How long does it take to receive my order?
That depends on shipping method you choose. We ship internationally by air mail within
1-7 business
days. It takes 10-14 days to most destinations. EMS Express mail takes 3-5 days.
14. Is shipping expensive?
We offer three shipping options - air small packet, registered air mail
and EMS Express
(fees vary depending on weight and destination) for those who want to get their
orders fast. When you add items
to your shopping cart, you may check postage and choose from these shipping
methods.
15. How should I place an order?
Please refer to our "Terms and Conditions" section for details. But first of all you need to open an account
with us. Free of charge, of course.
16. What is your return policy?
Please refer to our "Terms and Conditions" section for details. Basically, we
only accept returns of the items
sent by mistake or found to be defective.
17. Do you provide discounts?
Sorry, we don't offer any discounts.
18. I don't receive order notification e-mails. What is the problem?
We send tons of e-mails daily and are having no problems. With spam as an epidemic, spam filters are getting more strict and most likely to blame. To solve this problem, add (or have your ISP
add) deleted-but-not-forgotten.com to your spam filter's white list. If you still are not receiving
e-mails, try using a different e-mail address (on a different mail server). If this still fails, the only thing left is to sign into DBNF site and check for orders
status manually.
